Internship - "Rhino to Indesign Workflow"
Data management and consistency was highlighted as a concern at COX Architecture, particularly in the preparation of accurate documentation and tables for designs. Additionally, ensuring documents such as presentations and tables are updated and accurate can be time consuming and prone to error. To help facilitate the documentation process by the design teams, a Grasshopper script and workflow was developed to feed live design data from Rhino3D and Grasshopper directly into InDesign using Adobe CS5 Tagged Text. The script eliminates the need to first export design information to excel (or a similar program) before migrating the data to InDesign.
In addition to the design information and data, the Grasshopper script also imports customizable table and text styles to ensure formatting consistency between documents, this further reduced the amount of back-end documentation tasks required. Through the use of live data, accuracy is ensured, as supporting documents no longer need to be manually updated if any changes are made to the designs.
Internship at COX Architecture took place in July - October 2017
